Tyre rim without friction at bead area - in which rim profile is bent away radially from point above bead

A tyre with rim mounting beads and radial rim which is bent outwards has a smooth transition of its section from the outside of its bead to the outside of the sidewall. Where the rim profile and the outside of the bead begin to separate the latter diverges away. The rim prevents abrasi on wear at the rim profile, hence longer service life for the rim even if made of aluminium.
