<p>PURPOSE:To enable the title apparatus to treat several times as much gas as that treated by a conventional apparatus and reduce the size and wt. thereof by arranging V-shaped fibrous activated carbon in fan-shaped small chambers formed by dividing the adsorption tower with impermeable partition walls so as to enlarge the area occupied by the carbon layers in the tower. CONSTITUTION:Harmful gases-contg. gas 13 to be treated is introduced 2 into adsorption tower 1 from the lower part, passed through fibrous activated carbon layers 8 in fan-shaped small chambers 7 for adsorption to adsorb the harmful gases, and exhausted 3 from the upper part of tower 1 as purified gas 14. On the other hand, heated gas current 15 of regenerating gas is introduced 4 from the top of tower 1 into regenerating gas supply portions 9 over chambers 7, passed through layers 8 in chambers 7 for desorption and regeneration to desorb the substances adsorbed, and exhausted as regenerating gas 16 contg. the desorbed substances of high concn. through regenerating gas collecting portion 11 at the bottom of tower 1. In tower 1 adsorption and regeneration processes are simultaneously carried out by dividing each chamber 7 into two chambers with gas impermeable inner wall 5 and partition wall 6, and the purified gas and the desorbed gas of high concn. are separated by the action of dead blocks 10,12 provided to both the ends of the tower.</p> |
