<p>A web of variable translucency has a series of parallel elongate elements elastically extendible in a longitudinal direction, e.g. warp threads 3, which are held in place by spacers, e.g. weft threads 2, so that when longitudinal tension is applied, the elements 3 are increased in length and reduced in breadth. Since they are restrained against lateral movement by the spacers 2, this leads to increased gaps between adjacent elements 3 and between adjacent spacers 2. The web may be used for curtains, blinds and mosquito netting. <IMAGE></p> |
