A self-locking screw is provided with a slit (4) radially cut along the top portion of the screw thread (2). The flank angle (3) of the screw thread (2) is less than the flank angle (8) of the screw thread (7) of a cooperating screw (6), so that the screw thread (2) is elastically deformed by engagement with the screw thread (7) along a direction making the slit (4) narrower. As a result, the side surfaces (2a) of the screw thread (2) are coherently pressed onto the side surfaces of the screw thread (7), causing a strong friction between them and providing for good anti-loosening ability. |
