Elongation determination in finish rolling - from impulse measurements from measuring rolls over cycle giving accurate figure over short periods

Process for determination of elongation in finishing or skin pass rolls using impulses from measuring rolls on the inlet and outlet sides over a measuring cycle in which the actual value Li = 2(V. J2-N) - Lo (A + E)/2.N - (A + E) where Lo is the value at the start; V the ratio of measuring roll dias.; J2 and N the counter readings from the exit and input sides at the cycle end; A and E being the readings of the input side at teh beginning and end of the adjustment period. Determinations of exact elongation valves can be made over a short period and optimisation of control achieved.
