The container is used e.g. to spray accurately known amounts of fuel into e.g. the air inlet stream of an i.c. engine. The liq. which is to be sprayed and/or a part of the container in which the liq. is held, is set into vibration by means of a vibration generator (14) so that there is a relative movement between liq. and generator. An arrangement (9) is used to rectify the movement of the container or that part of the container with the outlet for the liq. The outlet hole in the container for the liq. has a variable area. The rectifying arrangement operates either mechanically or electromechanically.
