PURPOSE:To make the connection of optical fibers easy and highly accurate and to improve the workability by inserting a number of the fibers into the hole of a sleeve, which has a vertical width longer than the diameter of the fibers and a horizontal width longer than the sum of the diameters of the fibers, such that they abut against each other. CONSTITUTION:A sleeve 5 is formed with a hole 6 having a rectangular section, which in turn is formed at its open ends with expanding hornshaped taper portions 6a and 6b. The center portion of the hole 6 has its vertical length made slightly larger than the diameter of optical fibers and its horizontal length made slightly larger than the sum of the diameters of the same. The tolerances in those sizes are limited to the order of microns, and the hole itself is prepared by the electric molding method. Thus, the optical fibers can be connected merely by inserting them while aligning with each other, thus improving the workability. |
