The valve can operate as a control valve, an auxiliary valve or as a main valve. It has a valve housing in which a through passage (21) can be closed by means of a diaphragm (22). The deflection of the diaphragm (22) is effected by means of an actuating member. In order to be able to actuate the diaphragm (22) by simple means, a lever (26) guided in a particular swivelling plane and approximately parallel to the cross-sectional axis of the through passage (21) in the open position of the valve is provided. At its end facing the diaphragm (22), in the region of the swivelling plane, this lever has a radially projecting stop (27) which is supported on a fixed support (29). In this arrangement, a pressure element (31) is held with the ability to move freely in the axial direction between the end face of the lever (26) and the diaphragm (22). <IMAGE>
