Restoring plastics insulation

Restoring of insulation on plastics coated butt welded pipes is effected by a prefabricated element formed by a pair of bonded, longitudinal offset polyethylene strips one of which is as wide as the gap formed by removal of the plastics coating between the weld joint and as thick as the plastics coating, whereby its length corresponds to the effective periphery of the pipe. Offset strips of which the other is much wider provide peripherally offset joints.
