Recoilless firearm accelerated free piston brake - uses cutters engaging with launching barrel after certain travel

The braking system is used for braking a free piston travelling at high acceleration. This piston is used especially in recoilless firearms. The brake system is relatively simple and has no separate components. The piston (2) carries a cutting tool (3) with cutting edges (6) orientated in the direction of piston travel. The cutters are expanded radially outwards and they force the cutting edges into the barrel surface after a given certain piston travel distance.
