A plastics piston (4) for a disc brake is moulded from plastics resin and thermally conditioned to anneal it and complete polymerization of the resin and is strengthened by a radiused shoulder (10) between larger (8) and smaller (6) cylindrical portions, a concavely curved end face (14) and a smaller blind cavity (18) than in similar steel pistons.
