<p>This invention concerns a rivet- like fastening element made of resilient plastics material and comprising an axially slit anchoring portion 5 which expands outwardly to form a support in contact with the back of the panel 8. To prevent the screw from pulling through, the shank portion of the fastening element accommodates an internally screw-threaded top hatted bush 4 which is secured by ribs 11 against twisting and axial movement relative to the shank portion, the material forming the bush being stronger and less resilient than the material forming the shank portion.
