PURPOSE:To make possible adjustment of attenuation quantity together with connection of optical fibers by rotatably inserting the two cores fixed with optical fibers in eccentric positions into a cylinder. CONSTITUTION:Cores 2a, 2b comprising inserting optical fibers 1a, 1b into the holes provided in the position of an equal eccentric distance (e) from the central axis l are inserted into a cylinder 3 which has been precision worked so that its inside diameter is slightly larger than the outside diameter of the cores 2a, 2b, form both directions and are fixed by means of cap nuts 4a, 4b. Then, if the cap nuts 4a, 4b are loosened and one or both of the cores 2a, 2b are turned, the core centers of the optical fibers 1a, 1b move on the circumference shown by a broken line (c), whereby the coupling area of the optical fibers 1a, 1b is changed and attenuation quantity adjusted. If both optical fibers 1a, 1b are aligned of centers and the cap nuts 4a, 4b are tightened, both optical fibers 1a, 1b are connected. |
