<p>A non-hardened high-molecular trans-polypentenamer is prepared by mixing (a) a high-molecular polypentenamer, which contains mainly trans-bonds and has a Mooney viscosity ML 4' (100 deg.C.) of 50-200, with (b) 20-100 parts by weight of a plasticiser per 100 parts by weight of polypentenamer. The spontaneous crystallisation of the cyclopentenamers which results in undesirable hardening, is avoided, without affecting the crystallisation which occurs on stretching; the rubber-like properties are therefore retained. The vulcanisates can be used for car and lorry tyres. These vulcanisates show a strength and abrasion resistance which can usually be attained only with mixtures of 1,4-cis-polybutadiene with natural rubber or styrene-butadiene rubber.</p> |
