In order to be able to use a balcony for dwelling purposes, e.g. a children's room or flower-growing area, an installation with slidable walls (10) is set up on the balcony. The lower frame (1) is located on the floor of the balcony and the upper frame (2) is pressed against the ceiling of the balcony by means of height-adjustable rods (3). The frames (1, 2) comprise corner pieces (4a, 4b, 4c, 4d) and central pieces (5a, 5b) which are held together by means of connecting members (6) and fastening screws (7). The sliding walls (10) move in rails or channels (8a, 8b; 9a, 9b, 9c, 9d), in each case two sliding walls being present at the ends and at least four sliding walls being present over the length of the balcony. The said walls expediently consist of coloured perspex. <IMAGE>
