A tooth insert for cutting instruments particularly rotary saws consists of a single alloy investment casting which has a laterally offset portion providing a thicker leading surface having a laterally offset cutting edge so as to provide a kerf wider than-the thickness of the saw blade. Tooth inserts are made in left and right-hand mirror image so that they may be staggered to widen the kerf equally on both sides of the saw.
