<p>For the transverse stretching of the web, multiple-disc stretching devices have been used hitherto. The latter cause an intensive bending back of the web in the central region. Furthermore, sudden stretching initially occurs during this, specifically at the point where the web reaches the circumference of the discs, this amount of stretching being reduced at the moment of the further passage of the web through the stretching device. These disadvantages are avoided in that one of the rows of discs is now replaced by pressure elements (11) which are stationary in operation and are provided with sliding surfaces (24) which are curved in a concave manner towards the web and mesh with the other rotating row of discs (10). The meshing engagement of the stationary pressure elements (11) with the rotating discs takes place from a zero position (25) as far as a maximum degree and thus from zero stretching as far as maximum stretching. The position of the pressure elements (11) which are stationary during operation with respect to the rotating row of discs (10) can be adjusted. This process can be used in particular for stretching plastic mesh structures. <IMAGE></p> |
