The floor cleaning machine (10) consists of a disc (11) rotable about a vertical axis. The machine is driven by a motor (13) which has a vertical drive shaft (14) attached to a drive hub (15) which has driving-plate pins positioned either radially or coaxially. Between the cleaning disc (11) and the drive hub (15) is an adaptor (20) which has the same number of jaws as the hub has driving plate pins. The jaws can be moved radially to fit the size of the driving plate pins.
