Non-toxic, analgesic benzophenone derivs. - i.e. (N)-phenyl-piperazino-alkyl benzoyl-phenyl-alkanoate(s)

Benzophenone derivs. of formula (I) and their acid addn. salts are new (I). In (I) X1 is H or 1-5C alkyl; X2 is H, halo or 1-5C alkoxy; m is 1-10; n is 2-5; Y is H, halo, CF3, CF3O, CF3S or 1-8C alkyl or alkoxy. They ar prepd. e.g. by reacting a benzoylphenyl-alkanoic acid deriv. with a N4-phenyl-N1-hydroxyalkylpiperazine. (I) are powerful analgesics practically devoid of toxicity. They are administered orally at 20mg-2g/day, e.g. for treatment of muscular, articular or nervous pains, toothache or migraine. In an example reaction of methyl 3-(4-chorobenzyl)-2-methyl phenylacetate and (3-CF3-phenyl) piperazinyl-ethanol gave 2- 4-(3-CF3-phenyl)-1-piperazinyl ethyl 3-(4-Cl-benzoyl)-2-methylphenylacetate.
