A double acting pump for abrasive materials has a turbine piston rod (5) with a large piston (3) at one end and a small piston (4) at the other end. The pump is actuated by compressed air in a central cylinder (7) acting on the central piston (6). A solvent from a container (18) flows into the annulus (19) surrounding the smaller end cylinder (2). As the pump reciprocates this solvent is drawn into the cylinder in the space (20) and then forced through the holes (21) into the tubular connecting rod (5) into the cylinder and dissolves any abrasive material.
