The retaining wall has parallel vertical reinforced concrete slabs (1) at longitudinal intervals with arched slabs (13) or vaults spanning between slabs in the longitudinal direction. The slabs have vertical guides (3, 4) which are used to locate and fix the reinforcement (5). The guides may comprise round section bars and may be driven into the subsoil beneath the base of the wall. The reinforcing members may comprise straps with a sleeve (6, 7) at each end. The sleeves are threaded onto the bars and the strap is slid to its designated level. The spacing of the straps may decrease with depth and the straps may incorporate 'H' section pieces (10) housing the ends of the vault panels.
|
