Projectile fuse safety compartment - has cylinder accommodating fuse tail and preventing shock-wave propagation on accidental detonation

The safety compartment is for a projectile fuse, constituted by the wall of a container enclosing an unfused projectile and its fuse, and by a cylinder hollowed out axially for part of its height. The cylinder (5) slides inside the container (1), and its hollowed-out portion fits over the detonating tail (4) of the fuse. When accommodating the fuse it prevents propagation towards the projectile (2) of the shock-wave engendered by accidental fuse detonation. It can also serve as a wedge for the fused projectile, preventing any movement in the container.
