<p>A series of springs are mounted in the contact head so that they are held in position by friction on mounting to the welding gun, and they project into the welding head in a tapering formation. They ensure that any diam. of welding rod is axially oriented to pass through the opening at the other end of the contact head, and they also conduct welding current to the rod. The flow of inert gas round the rod also has a cooling effect.</p> |
