Thrust reversing system has a propulsive fluid flow duct (38) terminating in an exhaust nozzle (44), an aperture (22) in the wall of the duct, and a duct blocking mechanism (42) movably mounted intermediate the aperture extremities for movement to a duct blocking position. In the duct-blocking position the propulsive fluid is diverted to atmosphere via a portion of the aperture and ambient air adjacent the remainder of the aperture is entrained to generate an air flow via the exhaust nozzle.
