The receptacle (1) has two limbs (12, 13). Each limb has a swelling (16) about one third of the distance from the base, and a pivot point at the apex of the swelling. When inserted into the socket housing (2) the points (17) press against the housing recess (22) to locate the receptacle by friction, and to partly close the ends of the limbs. When a plug is inserted the limbs are forced apart thus increasing the pressure on the points (17) and inhibiting movement when the plug is again withdrawn. Using of friction eliminates the need for securing screws or special recesses and latches to hold the receptacles. |
