A warp knit fabric comprises a series of inter-connected warp chains 2 having laid-in warps between the chains which are alternately on the opposite faces of the fabric. They pass across at least two interconnecting threads 6 on each face. During a loop forming cycle in which the laid-in warp is to be brought to the face of the fabric the laid-in warp guides III make an underlapping movement together with the laid-in weft guides II. The guides swing through the needles, guides II make an overlap, and the guides are swung forward, Figure 1. A fall plate 3 pushes the weft loops below the needle latches when it rises the bar III make an underlap so that the laid-in warp will pass over the weft again. The guides swing through the needles, the chain bars 1 make an overlap and they all swing forward again, Figure 3. The needles then draw loops. |
