The stiffening insert is used for holding shirts in flat shape. The stiffener has joining features ensuring width adjustment. No pins are used. Along the total width of the stiffening insert are arranged projecting teeth (3). Their outside edges are arranged on a line (5) and these teeth can be folded over about their common base line (6). Spaces (4) between the projections (3) ensure firm closing so that the shirt remains firmly stretched over the stiffening support.
