<p>The drive for a scraper conveyor for mining operations includes a device for gripping the end of either the drive chain or the return chain, in the event of a breakage. The two chain strands pass through a monitoring device with two C shaped claws (5) mounted on a block (1). The jawa are tensioned towards each other by a leaf spring (8) around them. If a chain breaks, a jaw is moved inwards in the absence of the chain links, to operate a switch (3) between them, on the side of the block. The switch then actuates one or more cylinders (14) mounted on the side of a gripping member (9) with similar jaws (11, 13) through which the chains pass.</p> |
