The radio broadcasting system includes regions in which transmissions from several transmitters can be received. At least one transmitter transmits data identifying those transmitters in the region of the one transmitter which can be received in the local region. A receiver for use with the system stores the transmitted data for tuning purposes. The stored data comprises a code describing the transmitter's frequency, the board casting station and the programme. This code is entered into a store by operating a programming button. The store's receipt of the entered data is acknowledged by an indicator lamp. The advantage lies in the simple way in which the store is programmed and in tis relatively small capacity.
