A process for the purification of an olefin having from 2 to 5 carbon atoms in order to reduce the content of impurities to a level acceptable for use of the olefin in catalytic polymerization techniques, in which the olefin is contacted with at least one phosphinic complex of the formula: Me(PR3)n (I> or Me(PR3)n.(olefin)m (II> in which Me represents Ni, Co or Fe, n is 3 or 4, m is 1, 2 or 3, each R is the same or different and represents a hydrocarbyl group having up to 18 carbon atoms, and (olefin) represents an olefin. |
