1287730 Viricides containing pseudo (thio) ureas AMERICAN CYANAMID CO 24 Sept 1970 [3 Dec 1969] 45658/70 Heading A5E A method of combating a lipophilic virus comprises contacting the virus with a compound of formula: or an acid-addition salt thereof, wherein X is S or O, R is a straight chain C 8 to C 18 aliphatic hydrocarbon radical, and R, and R 2 are H or CH 3 . Contacting may be with paper containing adsorbed compound. The invention further comprises a method of protecting an article formed of cellulosic fibres (e.g. paper or cloth) from viral contamination by incorporating in said article a compound as specified above. Typical compounds used are dodecylpseudourea acetate, dodecylpseudourea hydrochloride, dodecylpseudo urea nitrate, dodecyldimethylpseudourea dihydrogen phosphate and dodecylpseudothiourea acetate. |
