Upper storey fire escape provision - has draw-cord on flap lifting hook with loop for collapsible ladder

The rescue device is to enable people trapped in an outbreak of fire to escape via a window or balcony or elsewhere on the outside of a building, or into the next floor below. There is a hook (1) with a curve for hanging in position and with a loop (2) for fixture of an extending ladder (11) or rope cable. At the bottom of the hook there is a downward swivelling flap (3), moved downward on an end draw cord (6), so as to life the hook and enable it to slide out from its fixed position. The draw cord may pass through a hole (7) in the hook and across a roller (8) and loop (9). Ladder and draw cord may be of storey-height length.
