<p>The milling cutter is designed for manufacturing large gear wheels and consists of several discs (1, 2, 3) having parallel faces and provided with toothed helicoidal crowns. The latter include interchangeable, reversible hard metal plates (10, 11) serving as lateral edges and spaced radially and alternately in order of teeth cutting to the right and left so that the edges are superposed. The metal plates are positioned on edge, i.e. with their narrow faces forming the surface of a cutting tool. The tooth which cuts perpendicularly to the axis of the cutter has, at its tip, a hard metal plate with a circular edge in order to produce a rounded bottom in the cut.</p> |
