Mould powder for continuous steel casting consists of mixture of 28-32 parts SiO2, 28-32 parts CaO, 1-2 parts MgO, 12-15 parts Al2O3, 3-6 parts Fe2O3, 0.5-1 parts TiO2, 4.5-6.5 parts Na2O, 1.5-2.5 parts K2O, 3.5-6 parts C (uncombined) 2.5-3.5 parts CO2, 3-5 parts F (all parts by weight), impurities not considered to which Mn oxide is added in amounts >=2 parts, advantageously 2-15 parts (of mixture). Pref. Mn oxide is added as MnO2, and pref. F cpds. are admixed in small amounts below 10 weight parts. Advantages of Mn oxide addition and lower F content include reduced release to toxic F gases, better surface of casting, higher efficiency of installations. |
