Biguanide salts [I; R1=H, lower alkyl, lower alkenyl, R2=lower alkyl, allyl, allyl-(lower alkyl), or alkyloxy-(lower alkyl), R1,R2= = lower alkylene, R3=H or -po <OR4,OR5 (R4, R5 = H or lower alkyl), n=1 or 2 were prepd. by the reaction of biguanide with dichloroacetic acid and sodium dichloroacetate in EtOAC. I are useful for lowering the blood sugar level without lactate accumulation, as shown by tests on rats.
