Tetracarboxylic esters of 2,2,6,6-tetramethyl-4-ol-piperidine are claimed of formula (I). -(R1-O-CO)-a Z -(CO-O-R11)-b (I) R1 is: (where R11 is H, alkyl, alkenyl, cycloalkyl, alkylcycloalkyl, cycloalkylalkyl, aryl, aralkyl or alkyl-aryl gp.; R1 is H or an oxidyl gp. O; R2 is lower alkyl; a is a whole no. 1-4; b is a whole no. 0-3 and a+b = 4; and X is a tetravalent (cyclo)aliphatic gp. which may contain 1-3 OH gps. The tetracarboxylic esters are useful as heat- and light-stabilisers in polymers such as polyolefins, polystyrene, polybutadiene, polyisoprene, ethylene-propylene copolymers, synthetic rubbers, PVC, polyacetals, polyesters, polyurethanes, etc., in the form of fibres, films, sheets, moulded articles and foams.
