1316334 Valves ROBERT BOSCH GmbH 21 Oct 1970 [28 Jan 1970] 49963/70 Heading F2V A valve has a closure ball 11 reciprocable between seats 12, 13 to connect inlet 14 alternately to outlets 4, 15, the maximum stroke of the ball being 1 mm. In an electromagnetically-actuated form, with coil 24 de-energized spring 28 acting through armature 19 overcomes spring 17 and ball 11 engages seat 12. With the coil energized, non-magnetic ring 30 extending between soft-iron core 25 and mounting member 22 casuses the magnetic field to flow through soft iron sleeve 29 and air gap 5, and armature 19 overcomes spring 28 to allow the ball to seat at 13. The arrangement is such that the ball can only be shifted from either seat when the inlet pressure is lowered. Passages 31, 32 in the armature establish a pressure balance between chambers 8, 21 when the ball is seated at 12. The valve can control fuel flow to the cylinders of a diesel engine, and could alternatively be controlled by a fluid pressure actuator rather than an electromagnet. |
