A dough dividing machine has a revolving drum with a dough portion chamber having a cam-controlled piston in it. The discharge belt conveyor is arranged above this drum and contacts the drum tangentially with its feed end. The discharge position of the portion chamber is tilted upwards relative to the filling position. This provides the optimum discharge height for the dough portions for further processing and ensures good access to the dough funnel. The dough is not kept pressurised during the whole time of its retention in the drum so that its raising properties are not affected.
