The press is particularly for compressing sawdust, wood shavings and similar material, and has a plunger reciprocating in a pressure chamber. It also has a thruster movable to and fro in the remainder of the chamber when the plunger is in its lowermost position, in order to eject the compressed material. On the opposite side of the chamber to the thruster there can be a sleeve of cross-section and length equal to that of the remainder of the chamber. Part of the wall of the latter can be hinged to form a loading opening for material.
