A closed or rearward-open hollow profile is used for elastically filling a joint gap in a structure. The profiles are connected on two opposite sides, fitting against the joint surface and rear, with a material with greater heat expansion on the inside, and with one which expands less (b) on the inside. Cuts vertical to the profile's longitudinal axis may be applied on the side where the layering is provided. The element may be encased in a tubular cover.
