<p>The rescue equipment has a brake mechanism which engages or releases the brakes by turning a crank handle in one or the other direction. A handle (5a) is fitted to an axle (2) seated in a stirrup-shaped frame (1). One end of the axle has a thread and rotates in the nut (1c) welded to the stirrup leg. The other end of the axle carrying the handle has a spring (9) fitted in the gap between the arm and stirrup surface. By turning the handle in one direction a threaded axle end (2a) is screwed into the nut and the spring (9) compressed. Brake linings (a, b) and are pressed together, resulting in a braking action on the cable drum (3).</p> |
