<p>A metal ribbon (6) which is drawn off a supply coil (13), moves through a set of cylindrical rollers (18) which straighten out any curvature in the ribbon. The next station (3) in the path of the ribbon, is a friction drive (17) which controls the feed rate of the ribbon to the machining or press location (4). The ribbon straightening unit (2) and the friction drive feed (3) are located on rollers (9, 10) and can be moved together or individually in the direction of the ribbon path (B). This allows the ribbon to be momentarily stopped for the press operation whilst the friction and straightening rollers remain moving and in contact with the ribbon.</p> |
