<p>The endoscope carrying a cutting tool (1) at its tip, remotely operated by a cable has a parallel cable (8) attached to an arm (2) which can be swung so as to control the curvature of the support arm for the cutter. This enables its direction to be controlled. At the end of the tube (6) through which the latter cable (8) passes, is a packing (7) to form a liquid tight seal. The outside of the cable is smooth, to ensure the sealing effect. In another design, this part of the cable is enclosed by a cylindrical rubber or plastics covering, or by a bellows sleeve, to give a good seal. In a further design, a cylindrical magnet mounted around the wire forms the seal, using a magnetic fluid.</p> |
