The overload coupling has one or more shear rods normally engaging two coupling halves together in one direction at least, the halves rotating on a common axis. On shearing the halves rotate in relation to each other for at least one revolution. Means are provided, after the rod has sheared, for moving the remnant of it, so that the halves can be coupled again. There can be two or more shear rods, each movable by this means into two or more positions to restore the coupling. The rod can be arranged to move in one or both directions in relation to the first coupling half to which it is attached, working with a stop in the second half in two or more different positions. |
