This tying-round machine has a device for combined torque sensing for fault elimination and for stopping the band (20). If a free band end (30) causes an obstruction in a band groove (16) surrounding an article (22) to be tied round, the additional resistance is transmitted to a feed wheel (28) which must be driven by a higher torque. By a suitable choice of a prestressing spring (50), the force on the driving plate (48) can be calculated so that the prestressing spring (50) comes loose from the plate (47) under an increased torque. After one revolution, a projection (53) of the plate (47) engages again into a recess of the driving plate (48). If the obstruction is still present, the plates (47, 48) come loose once more. To stop the band, a lifting magnet (66), which is connected to a detent pawl (38) via an arm (70), is provided. The lifting magnet (66) is actuated as soon as the free band end (30) reaches a sensing device (34). <IMAGE> |
