Abrasion-resistant Kieserite fertiliser granules prodn. - by roll-granulating with ammonium sulphate and shock heating the granules to give surface drying

In the prodn. of granulated kieserite with a particle size of 0.8-5.0mm, (a) kieserite with an average particle dia. of d' 0.3mm an a uniformity coefft. of n 2.0 is mixed with 1-10 wt.% of ammonium sulphate and an aq. granulation fluid and granulated with rolling, then (b) the granules are shock-heated and surface-dried without calcination occurring. Used as fertiliser for magnesium-deficient soils. Granulation without incorporation of ballast substances to give granules of a particle size which can be handled by current fertiliser spreaders.
