Oscillation damping device for cine projector - uses weighted lever arm contacting film before diverting to gate

The cine projector has the film reel fed between a supply (2) and take-up reel (3) past gate (5) via an intermittent web transport mechanism which does not employ a toothed transport drum. An oscillation damping device (7, 8) is positioned between the gate (5) and the supply reel (2), for a periodic suppression of the supply reel vibrations. Pref. the oscillation damping device (7, 8) comprises a weighted lever (8) contacting the film with a friction coupling for retarding its rotation, the ratio between the frictional retarding force and the rotational movement due to the weight being about 5:1.
