<p>Process for preparing O-methallyloxyphenol by selective monoetherification of pyrocatechin with methallyl chloride. It consists of the etherification of pyrocatechin with methallyl chloride in an aprotic solvent medium in presence of a carbonate or an acid carbonate of an alkali metal. O-methallyloxyphenol can be used as starting material for the preparation of dihydro methylcarbamate-2, 3 dimethyl-2, 2 benzofuramyl-7, polyvalent insecticide known by the name of carbofuran. </p> |
