PURPOSE:To cause an optimum swirl in a desired direction and facilitate manufacturing, by providing variable guide blades near the outlet port of an intake passage. CONSTITUTION:A swirler 10 has three guide vanes 9 installed together in an annular frame 12. The longitudinal section and the cross section of each guide vane 9 are both curved. The central part of lower edge of the vane is notched so that a valve stem holding part 13 is formed and is penetrated by the stem of an intake valve. The swirler 10 is rotatably fitted to the inside wall surface of the intake passage, especially near the outlet port of an intake hole 2. Therefore, the angle beta of installation of the swirler 10 can be varied to cause an optimum swirl. As a result, a special swirl mechanism is not needed and the manufacturing is easy. |
