A multilayer structure comprises an upper layer of non-woven fabric having 90-100% of synthetic fibres of 67-400 dtex., a length of 50-150 mm, and a twist of 2-6/cm., the fabric having 500-15,000 needling points/dm2, with 0-10% of fibres adhering by fusion, reinforced with a rubber or plastic binder so that the binder content is 25-50% and the impregnated non-woven fabric layer is at least 8 mm. thick, together with a support layer consisting of an elastic impermeable layer of rubber or plastic at least 2 mm. thick, and finally an adhesive water-soluble layer to unite the surface of the support layer. The fibres are pref. pigmented in the mass. The upper layer is pref. roughened and may contain natural or synthetic rubber latex as a binder. The surface is superior to artificial 'tufted' surfaces because it generates less frictional heat and does not spoil the balance of the feet due to compression.
|
